Aided by the exponential rate of globalization and digitalization, reward or loyalty programs (LPs) have attained global reach. Paradoxically, however, dropout rates of LPs have averaged over 75%. This disconcerting statistic, coupled with the lack of culture-specific insights in the literature, points to a research area of great theoretical and practical importance. To address the aforementioned issues, we develop a culture-based and progress-based model of consumer motivation that is especially applicable to LP members. Drawing on cross-cultural literature and goal pursuit theory, our research enriches a field that is inherently global in nature. Through a series of research propositions that elucidate how Western individualist (vs. Eastern collectivist) consumers are differentially motivated to pursue LP rewards, we advance theoretical understanding of reward-induced behavior across cultures and offer useful insights for global managers of LPs. 相似文献

This paper analyses the forces determining per capita income levels of nations over the past millennium and the prospects to 2030. In the year 1000, Asian countries were in the lead. By 1820, per capita gross domestic product in Western Europe and the USA was twice the Asian average. The divergence had grown much bigger by 1950, but by the 1970s, several Asian countries – Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore – had achieved considerable catch-up. Since then, there has been a major surge in China and the beginning of a similar phenomenon in India. As a result, the Asian share of world income has risen steadily and, by 2030, will be fairly close to what it was in 1820. Organizations must target talented applicants, who will often be demographically diverse, to attract the most competent and competitive workforce possible. Despite the bottom‐line implications of attracting the best and brightest, surprisingly little is known about how and why diversity recruitment strategies affect recruitment outcomes (e.g., job‐pursuit intentions). To gain insight into this question, we conducted an initial experimental study (N = 194) to test the premise that other‐group orientation moderates the relationship between perceived organizational value of diversity and job‐pursuit intentions. In a follow‐up experiment (N = 255), identity affirmation was examined as the mediating mechanism for the interaction observed in the first study. Mediated moderation analyses supported the proposed model. Collectively, the studies indicate that job seekers high in other‐group orientation are more intent on pursuing employment with organizations deemed to value diversity because they feel that their salient identities are likely to be affirmed. No such indirect effect is present for those lower in other‐group orientation. 相似文献

目的:低剂量CT重建已成为CT成像的研究热点,针对低剂量CT成像,文章对两种基于投影数据恢复的低剂量CT重建方法进行了讨论比较。材料与方法:这两种方法分别为基于投影数据非单调性全变分最小恢复的低剂量CT重建方法和基于投影数据惩罚加权最小二乘恢复的低剂量CT重建方法。我们通过数字体模仿真实验对两种方法分别进行了定性和定量比较分析。结果:实验结果表明,两种方法均能有效去除噪声、抑制伪影、提高低剂量CT重建图像质量。结论:重建时间方面,基于投影数据非单调性全变分最小恢复的低剂量CT重建方法更有优势。 相似文献

Opportunity Identification and Pursuit: Does an Entrepreneur’s Human Capital Matter? 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Extending human capital approaches to entrepreneurship, an entrepreneur’s “inputs” relating to their general (i.e. education
and work experience) and entrepreneurship-specific human capital profile (i.e. business ownership experience, managerial capabilities,
entrepreneurial capabilities and technical capabilities) are presumed to be related to entrepreneurial “outputs” in the form
of business opportunity identification and pursuit. Valid and reliable independent variables were gathered from a stratified
random sample of 588 owners of private firms. Ordered logit analysis was used to test several theoretically derived hypotheses.
With regard to the number of business opportunities identified and pursued, entrepreneurship-specific rather than general
human capital variables “explained” more of the variance. Entrepreneurs reporting higher information search intensity identified
significantly more business opportunities, but they did not pursue markedly more or less opportunities. The use of publications
as a source of information was positively associated with the probability of identifying more opportunities, while information
emanating from personal, professional and business networks was not. Implications for practitioners and researchers are discussed.
